The role

This is a permanent full-time Accounting Analyst role based in our Christchurch office. You will report to the Manager - Financial Insights

Within this role you will be able to have significant impact in:

    Producing impartial financial statistics which are used to shape policy and support packages for businesses in these challenging times.
    Positively changing our measurement of business finances to better reflect the rapidly changing NZ economy.
    Finding ways to reduce the burden on the businesses we measure, by using administrative data, modelling, and changing our survey design.
    Shaping our response to accounting standard changes.
    Improving our toolset for data collection, analysis, and release.

Starting salary: $76,571 - $84,679 negotiable, depending on the successful applicants skills and experience.

Job Description

About the opportunity

You'll join our Payments Service team - the team that provides expertise and support to our five business verticals. You'll work hand in hand with internal stakeholders to help them overcome obstacles by understanding their unique goals and challenges so they can focus on what really matters - helping our customers succeed.

Reporting to Payment Services Manager, as part of the payment services team, you'll be working on billing, paying out, corrections and reconciliation.

Some of the responsibilities you'll have:

    Process Billing across all Trust Accounts via direct debit and credit card, and record all transaction details once completed successfully
    Download and process banking files, reversals daily (Critical Morning Tasks)
     Run ‘Exception Reports’ to identify anomalies in billing and other reporting daily as required, Investigate and escalate issues Approve Billing, Refund batches as required to support internal processes Investigate and approve corrections; refunds, delete fees, and transfers daily to meet Service Level Agreement (SLA)
     Liaise with the bank regarding queries, chargebacks, and any other issues as and when required
    Perform end of day process checks including banking, reversals, data imports and other required checks as per internal control
    Manage Debt Recovery processes end to end on a weekly basis as required
    Confirm Bank Imports are completed prior to starting Payout
    Check Payout Spreadsheet pre checks, withheld payout, excluded facilities, other requests from Account Managers, Stakeholders
    Change of Ownership & Change of Bank Account are processed prior to Payout
     Attend and participate in team meetings and events

Qualifications

What would make me a good candidate?

    Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Finance, Billing, or Accounts Receivable role within corporate or commercial banking
    Able to prioritise and manage workload effectively and to specified deadlines
    Experience in high processing volume environments
    Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook
    Experience in accounting systems – completing reconciliations and working with various accounting systems
    Ability to work well independently and as part of a team, where you manage your own time
    Motivated by a fast-paced environment where you will constantly have to adapt - no two days are the same

About the Role:

An exciting new opportunity has become available for an Assistant Accountant to join our Auckland Hospitality & Soft Services team within the Facilities Services division.

Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant you will be responsible for providing accounting services and support to the Hospitality & Soft Services business. Based in Wiri, you will be processing financial transactions at month-end, critically reviewing all journals submitted, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and assisting the business and Finance Team with financial queries and analysis.

This will include partnering with the business to ensure they accurately record their costs and revenue on a monthly basis, collating and reviewing the financial data during the month and at month end with the outcome that all transactions are captured and the Profit and Loss reflects an accurate picture of a sites performance for the month.

Skills and Experience:

To be successful, we are looking for candidates with the following attributes:

    Degree or Diploma in accounting
    Good understanding of accounting principles, standards and processes
    Microsoft Office Proficiency – Excel to an advanced level (Pivot Tables, Lookups, etc.)
    Great attention to detail and an eye for process improvement
    Strong problem solving and analytical skills
    Strong organisational and time management skills
    Experience in SAP is preferred but not essential
