Based in Port Melbourne the role of Cost Accountant reports to the Finance Manager and is responsible for providing cost accounting and finance support to the Shepparton Corridor Upgrade (SCU) project to ensure that all packages of works have positive outcomes for the Alliance participants. The Cost Accountant is essential to assist in managing the costs associated with supplied materials and production.

Responsibilities

    Assist in producing monthly management accounts including project costs
    Assist in producing monthly profit and loss statements
    Conducting analysis of all costs and ensuring all costs are identified and recorded accurately
    Supports the maintenance of accurate costing systems in relation to labour, production methods and material supply
    Supports the maintenance and review the general ledger and reconcile balance sheets
    Contribute to and formulate budgets and forecasts, and provide variance analysis against standards and against the budget and forecast
    Drive the co-ordination of programme and package month end close procedures, ensuring adherence to target deadlines by all project participants
    Assist the Finance Manager in preparation of bespoke financial reports and dashboards associated with forecasts, monthly cost & performance reviews, and analysis
    Assist with preparation and submission of Alliance progress claim’s across respective packages of work
    Analysing data and reports to ensure consistent report communication both internally and externally
    As required, liaise with external auditors and compilation of audit documentation and support as required for the Alliance
    Assist with the monthly staff forecast calculations and associated reporting requirements

Required Skills and Competencies

    Tertiary Qualification in Commerce or similar
    Minimum of 12 months experience in a similar position (Post Graduation)

We are seeking a Manager Financial Accounting to join our team. This is an ongoing full-time opportunity based in our head office at Sydney Olympic Park.

About the role

The Manager, Financial Accounting role manages the financial accounting functions and processes of the Office of Sport.

Reporting to the Director, you will lead and direct the financial accounting team in managing systems and processes for the preparation of the financial statements. You will manage and coordinate the production of financial statements and early close accounts for the Office of Sport and liaise with the NSW Audit Office of NSW on audits of financial statements and resolve any associated issues.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting or related field, and a member / eligible for membership of an Australian professional accounting body (e.g. CPA or CA).

Demonstrated experience in managing the financial accounting processes required for month / year end close and the reconciliation processes.

Ability to provide expert professional advice on the interpretation and application of existing and new accounting standards and Treasury policies and directions.

How Will I Help?

As the Accounting officer, you will be working within the Financial Crime and Fraud Prevention team. You will be working at our Parramatta office. The role will report to the Merchant Fraud and Chargeback Manager. Some of the responsibilities are:

Reconciliation of the account

Purchasing journals, debiting and crediting of the account

Creating account for the stakeholders as and when required

Action incoming value in all 4 suspense accounts and clear if possible. Investigate outstanding entries.

Write off and recoveries as required to clear entries in suspense – journals processed to clear bulk amount through oracle

Incoming and outgoing values from Visa and Mastercard processed through journals in oracle for both SGB and WBC

Spider access – open accounts for Merchant Risk for SGB
